This is territory I know inside out because, having had an abusive father and a mother of whom he made a doormat, I had to find my way from the nervous little Goody Two-Shoes I was to a life lived fully and on my own terms.

My work remains grounded in the expansive approach to human development that attracted me to psychology to begin with: the humanistic psychology that flowered in the 1960’s and 70’s and eventuated in today’s positive psychology.

I build trust and a positive working relationship by focusing on what my clients need and helping them develop it.

I don’t just share a couple of techniques and go on to the next thing; I train them in the skills they want to hone right there in the coaching conversation. Using strategies designed to overcome obstacles quickly, I help them think creatively, make more deliberate decisions, and eliminate unproductive thinking.

Extensive training and experience in psychotherapy develop skills few coaches possess, like an ability to identify patterns quickly, draw on a comprehensive knowledge of psychology, and refrain from using one’s clients to meet one’s personal needs. Bringing this expertise to bear on my coaching enhances and accelerates the process.

I’m committed to the dismantling of patriarchy, white supremacy, classism, homophobia, transphobia, antisemitism, Islamophobia, ageism, and ableism and their replacement by a culture characterized by equity, belonging, and respect.

Long odds don’t intimidate me, and I know all about rising from the ashes.
